5th April 2008

It's a Girl.  Kallista's Pride was delivered of a bay filly foal this morning at 3.45 both mother and baby are reported to be well.  We will get some pics for the site as soon as we can.  News of the new syndicate will be available soon.

Joe is due to be declared for the race on Tuesday tomorrow morning - we will not know until after 10 whether he will run or not

More soon. Deana G G Racing

3rd April 2008 No I've not left the country or won the lottery I've just been busy and the horse scene has been quiet.  The main yard has been suffering from a bug which is gradually working its way out - vets say that it is not a problem but it just needs to run its course.  the horses are continuing with their training but it is best not to race them at the moment.  We are waiting with baited breath for the birth of the foals - no news yet though.   We are waiting for the return of Howdi to the yard following his winters' rest and Willie is due a scan before he too will return.  Woodyand Joe are continuing with regular work and SOx is on a mini-break!   We attended the Kent Game Fair last weekend with the roadshow and the Win A SHare competition was won by Ms V Leak  who has received a share in Smokin JOe.  More soon.  Deana.  G G Racing

22nd february 2008  Where is this month going?  SOX not only ran well but won the race.  It seems everytime he runs he shows us something new and we are all excited to see how he matures this year.  Age wise he might be 5 but maturity wise I think he is defiately a late developer.  He followed up with win with a fine 2nd when he was beaten by a smidge of the line by George Baker of all jockies!   JOE is looking well and we hope to find a race for him soon.  He has dropped a couple of pounds which allows him to go down in class so we are hoping he can show us some good work in the next couple of outings.  He seems to run better with more weight.  The three half-brothers, WILLIE, HOWDI and WOODY are all well.   JOY and SONNY were enjoying themselves out in the field this afternoon - their first time outside for a little while.  PRIDE and ZEST are both well.  SOX is entered next week at Wolverhampton but we want to look at the race carefully before committing ourselves.  Bye for Now.  Deana  G G Racing

8th February 2008  Hi, all pages should now be updated - if you spot any anomolies please let me know.  Joe ran this week and finished -w ell no-where.   We were a tad disappointed but he had a horrid draw, he had to run wide, the jockey was unable to get him into the race as we had asked and he has too much to do in what was a very tightly contested race.  Not the end of the world then and he lives to race another day. SOX is entered tomorrow at Lingfield.  Not the ideal distance for him but I think it is the best of poor options at the moment.  With the race card not offering anything that we feel is ideal we have picked the best of the others.  Chances are he will run tomorrow and then maybe towards the end of next week and then go off on a 'mini-break' for a few weeks to prepare him for the turf season.  Pride has gone off to stud and is to be covered by BYRON once she gives birth and Zest is about to go on her travels as well, she wil be covered by Proclamation in due course.  SONNY and JOY continue to grow well and are both proving popular with their owners and the many visitors I have taken to see them recently.  JOY continues to fight above her weight in the 'I'm in charge stakes' and the colts seem to dutifully do as they are told!   WILLIE is recovering from a slight injury to a ligament, he is sound but just needs time to mend so that he doesn't do more damage.  He is enjoying a bit of R&R being spoiled by Sarah.  HOWDIGO is enjoying his rest, also at Sarah's.  WOODY is on road work and is on his way back to the main training yard.  All is going well and we would hope to see him out in April/May time.  Bye For Now. Deana, G G Racing

21st January 2008  I am in the process of updating the site with new prices and information - some of the pages will therefore contradict each other for a short while.  My apologises, if you would like clarification of any point then please email me and I will happily oblige.  Thanks for your patience. regards deana g g racing

15th January 2008  A Very Happy New Year to You All  Been having a bit of gremlin trouble with the site going off and on line and my being unable to get in - not sure where the gremllins were probably at my end but never mind I'M BACK !!  Had two fine wins from Smokin Joe and one from PRINCE of MEDINA since I've been away and it was a very exciting end to the year - no thanks to Matt Champman from at the races who was far from polite about our boy but when he followed up with a close 2nd I think we made our point.  PRINCE OF MEDINA goes again tomorrow night.  A little disappointed with his run on Sunday but it really is the case that he has no kick - he will gallop all day and likes to race other horses but he is unable to chase if the leaders take off.  He needs to be right there with the pace and for some reason this seems very hard to achieve - nuff said.  SMOKIN JOE has had a sore foot but is now almost back to work.  WILLHEGO has pulled a ligament and will be off for a few weeks.  HOWDIGO is resting and enjoying a bit of time away from the routine.  WOODYGO is walking with a view to coming back towards the end of the all-weather season.  BROUGHTON ZEST and KALLISTA'S PRIDE are both well and due to go off to the stud for their confinements in about a months time.  SONNY and JOY are now officially yearlings and progressing very nicely.  We welcomed many new people to our syndicates over christmas.  We are about to do an overhaul of the website - as you will see it is out of date.  Please add a year to all the ages for one thing.  Now I am able to get back into the system I will be updating the pages and the prices.  If you were considering buying a share now is a good time to do it before I get a chance to put the prices up on the system.  More details in the next posting.  Good luck to those SOX owners braving the weather tomorrow night and I'll speak to you all again soon  bye for now. Deana . G G Racing

10th December 2007  Can't believe it is so long since I posted something - aologises to my regular readers if I have any!!!!!!!!Have been having a busy time at the races, at fairs with the G G Racing roadshow and at home sending out all the packs for shares sold as Christmas presents.  WILLHEGO rewarded us with a third last week, following up on SMOKIN JOE's third a few days previously - in fact JOE was so close in his race only missing first by half a length.  George Baker as always is a star, Jim Crowley is proving a find as far as the horses are concerned but our special thanks to Adam Kirby who took over on WILLHEGO at the last minute on Friday and gave him a fantastic ride (WILLIE not being an easy horse to handle), they were a little unlucky in running in that the leading horse ran out of steam just a little too early forcing Adam to take WIllie on (he had no choice as far as we could see) but they gave it a real go over the final 2 furlongs and kept 3rd in the photo.   Had a great write up in the Racing Post in their regular shares feature last month and today SMOKIN JOE is featured on the trading post page where they say nice things and recommend him as their nap.  PRINCE OF MEDINA running on Wednesday at Kempton in the last race (we seem to have a thing about last races at the moment).  This may be his last chance of avoiding being a 5 year old maiden!!!!!!!!   A small band of merry followers will be at Lingfield today and Kempton on Wednesday - come up and say hello (I will most probably be sporting my G G Racing jacket which is easier to spot than my badge!!)   Bye for Now  Deana G G Racing

14th November 2007  HOWDIGO? - very very well thank you.  HE DID IT  - HE WON!!!  So onto Lingfield tomorrow with SMOKIN JOE and friday with PRINCE OF MEDINA.  CONGRATULATIONS to the yard for the win by Monashee Prince earlier in the afternoon  Now must go as I have some champagne to drink!  bye for now. Deana. G G Racing

13th November 2007  HOWDI goes tomorrow night at Kemptom - we are all hoping for a good race but you never know what the oppostion is going to come up with when racing against the unraced.   SMOKIN JOE and George renew their acquaintance on Thursday at Lingfield over a mile - we'll just let the old team do their stuff and hope.  PRINCE OF MEDINA runs at Lingfield on Friday.  JOEis also entered on the 17th at Lingfield.  We saw some of the new yearlings at the yard this morning - very exciting time of  year and you wonder if you have seen the next superstar in the making.  John has a number of yearlings and foals still for sale - check our his website for details.  We are off to the Kingsmead Centre at Canterbury on Saturday and Sunday for a christmas fayre so if you are in the area why not pop along and say hello.  thats all for now.  regards.  Deana G G Racing

10th November 2007  HE DID IT - SMOKIN JOE SHOWED HE'S STILL GOT IT WHEN HE WON ON WEDNESDAY AT KEMPTON.  It was so exciting for his owners - those able to go along and cheer him home, collect the trophy and enjoy a champagne celebration courtesy of Kempton Park and those of us who were elsewhere - at home, in the bookies or like me in the car!  PRINCE OF MEDINA ran well but just didn't have that burst of speed needed but it was a race after a lay off and it was a little sharp for him.  Dane O'Neill was bouyant about his chances of breaking his maiden before too long.  JOE is entered on Monday and Thursday next week.  He will not run on Monday but we are still considering an outing on Thursday over a mile.  PRINCE OF MEDINA  is entered at Wolverhampton on Wednesday and HOWDIGO at Kempton on Wednesday  I have added the mousemats, keyrings and fridge magnets to this site - to check out those available click on the shop display page (sub page to shop, highlight shop and it should come up).  Buy through the shop.  P&P charges - 1 unit =50P, items give their postage in units.  Mousemats 2 units therefore £1, keyrings and magnets 1 unit = 50p  Finally it just leaves me to say Thankyou to everyone who sent their good wishes to us on the win.  Our thanks to everyone at the yard, not least Michelle who spoils JOE on a day to day basis.   Now for the next one........ Bye for Now. Deana. G G Racing

1st November 2007  JOE will not run this afternoon, he is still feeling the effects of his race on monday.  He was running on well at the finish but he didn't really get put in the race in a postition from where he could win, he was too wide and too far back.  He is entered up next week so hopefully he will be out then.  WILLHEGO is entered on Sunday at Lingfield when we hope that he can put going into the stalls, coming out of the stalls and running fast and in a good line all together and produce the result we know he is capable of.  He will need a good steerer to help him along the way, final decs are tomorrow morning.  HOWDIGO? Very well thank you.  What a race.  The first and second left the rest standing over the last furlong and from our prospective the wrong horse passed the post first but in all other respects we could not have asked for more.  Howdi certainly enjoys his work and shows a lot of determination (and a little feistiness at the start) to do well.  We may run him again before he goes off for a winters break it depends on the available races.  SOX is working his way back to full fitness following his brief lay-off.  We would hope to see him out before the end of the month.   All the other horses are doing well.  I am taking a stand at the KM Show at Mote Park over the coming weekend - if you are in the area why not pop in and say hello and have a look at the horsey goodies I have for sale as well as shares in nice christmas present sizes.  I have posted some new items into my ebay shop at http://stores.ebay.co.uk/the-g-g-racing.store why not take a look?  Bye for Now,  Deana, G G Racing

29th October 2007   Hi,  WILLHEGO at Lingfield last week proved that he could come out of the stalls fast enough but he then got pushed very wide on the first bend (which appears very quickly on the 1m2f course) and ran around 6 off the rail for the whole of the race.  When asked to quicken there was nothing there so he was allowed to coast home with no hope of a better that second half of the field finish.  He returned fit and well and will be out again very soon.  SMOKIN JOE is running this afternoon over a mile at Lingfield.  He could perhaps do something if he is back to his best but we won't know until we see himon the track.  He is also entered back at Lingfield on Thursday we will make the decision in the morning on this run.  HOWDIGO will run on wednesday at Lingfield and we are hoping to see a progression from him although his best will come next year when he has had a chance to mature.  A small party will be at lingfield this afternoon to cheer Joey home.  bye for now.   Deana.  G G Racing

23 October 07.  We have been away for a few days over the last week and we were out of range of the phones and email so if you sent us a message and didn't get a reply please call/send it again.  thank you.  I have just posted some new pictures of the foals - we visited them last week and they are now happily living in their shared barn.  The mares have been moved away and the foals are fully weaned.  Also we have posted some pics from ascot and of the horses in the winners enclosure.  The picture we didn't get was Smokin Joe in the second spot at Kempton - despite a hic cup at the start and a hold up getting on the track he performed very well and we were all pleased to see him back in form.  He will race again in the next couple of weeks if we can find the appropriate race for him.  Tomorrow we see WILLHEGO at Lingfield.  We hope that he will get away without any drama tomorrow.  We think that it was just a blip and he will show us a better time tomorrow.  he is working well and is very good in himself.  A small group of owners are going along to cheer him on but we still have some half price tickets without a home.   I am preparing for some christmas present shows in November - the first is over next weekend, 3rd and 4th November - in Maidstone at the Mote Park Leisure Centre.  If you are in the area why not come and say hello - I will be selling (hopefully) shares for Christmas along with a range of horsey gifts to suit all pockets.  I am hoping also to have some signed copies of the Dave Nevison book - A Bloody Good Win.  They will be limited so if you would like to pre-order a copy (cover price £15.99) then please drop me a line - first come first served.  WOODY is enjoying a well deserved rest at the moment.  PRINCE OF MEDINA is back on the gallops following his little rest and is looking well.  HOWDIGO is working well and is expected to have a race on the all-weather in the near future.   Fingers crossed for WILLIE tomorrow - if you are in Lingfield and you spot us wandering about why not say hello - we'll be wearing our G G Racing owners badges.   Bye for Now.  Deana.  G  G Racing

2nd October 07  Howdi ran on Sunday and although he did not make it to the winners enclosure it was a very tough race and everyone enjoyed the excitement of going to ASCOT as an owner, the owners and trainers bar was uncrowded and supplied us with unlimited free tea/coffee and sandwiches - it's nice to be spoiled.  The building is so impressive and standing in the parade ring looking up at that amazing sight was just indescribable.  Dane O'Neill reported that he felt that Howdi did not pick up as well as he did last time and thought this may be the response to the previous race where he put so much into the finish.  He said we had a nice horse and that he would do well next year and asked if we had considered giving him a rest.  We will have a de-brief with John, the trainer, and plan our next move from there.  Although 16 of us made the trip to Ascot we still had 4 1/2 price tickets that went a-begging. Smokin Joe runs this afternoon at Wolverhampton.  We think he will need a race or two to 'blow away the cobwebs' as John puts it but we are just so pleased to see him back to full fitness and looking so good.  He is partnered today by Jim Crowley and we hope that he can find him somewhere to settle and then bring him through towards the end.  We are taking a watching brief but this is a step on the way for his winter campaign.  There are five owners going this afternoon to cheer him on.  The foals are doing well and are now both weaned.  Kallista's Pride has had some trouble with an abcess but is now on the way to a full recovery.   WILLHEGO  is back on the gallops, SOX and WOODY are both on light duties and will return to full work shortly.  Fingers crossed for Joe.  regards. deana. g g racing

20th September 2007  What a week - it certainly illustrates the ups and downs of being a race horse owner.  Monday saw HOWDIGO at Leicester.  No they didn't get his name right - Michelle at the yeard says it is because I insisted on the spelling when she wanted HOWDYGO - she's probably right!!  Whatever they call him though he continues to show us that he means business.  Although beaten by a shorthead into second place he was fighting to the line and the result could have gone either way with both horses streching for the line.  We have a copy of the photofinish and it really only come down to a nose ( apparently a new description about to be introduced by the powers that be to offer a shorter distance than a short head.)  So we were all on cloud nine.  I would like to share the following email with you (with the writers permission) which I think ably shows what a difference it makes to go racing as an owner as opposed to being a punter and also what a great feeling it is when you get the chance to 'live the dream'   Deana,  Just a quick note to say thanks for the tickets to Leicester yesterday and to Graham for keeping us entertained for the afternoon, we had a most enjoyable time and oh how close he came to making it a really memorable afternoon.  Chris found it hard to believe that she finished the afternoon sitting shoulder to shoulder with Willie Carson watching the TV in the Owners/Trainers room and I found myself holding the door open for John Dunlop when we were walking to the winners enclosure to greet his 16-1 on winner.  Thanks again and here's to us being in the No1 berth next time.  Cheers,  Mick.   Now we move onto Wednesday Sandown and WILLHEGO.  He did play up a little just outside the parade ring but Willie does like to go racing and he is prone to get  little overexcited.  He settled once they got him going and he went down quietly enough.  He walked around calmly at the start and loaded without any problem.  What went wrong after that is anyones guess.  there were three runners with very similar colours and most of us thought that he was going wide and were worried that Stephane was taking the long route but then when the camera angle changed we saw that it wasn't Willie and in fact he was no where to be seen.  At this stage the commentator noticed he was missing and he too was lost for the idea of where willie was.  It seems that Willie had some kind of panic attack - or excitement attack - but either way he rocked forward as if to go then rocked back and sat on the doors where despite thralling around he went no-where.  Stephane landed on his feet behind the stalls - we are still not sure if he was thrown or jumped - and was safe.  Willie then seemed to take forever before he set off to run his race - following the whole course.  He passed the winning post and was caught a little time after that.  Christie was caring for him and reported that he was fine with no visible signs of any problems and was calm enough when she caught him.  What went on in that stall and in his head we will never know - maybe he just realised what was about to happen, got excited and danced around (which is one of his 'things') and lost his footing - maybe he did have a panic attack and try to back away.  I have watched the race four times now and I can't see him in the stalls - i see him bounce forward and then he disappears.  Michelle, from the John Best yard, has watched it in slow motion and it is her description that I use above.  We have HOWDI entered at Ayr on Saturday at the Gold Cup meeting but he will only run if he is 110%.  We will look at Willie when we get him home and probably give him a couple of days in the field (although not sure he deserves it) before getting him back on the gallops and into another race as soon as possible.  The ups and downs of racing - but it affects us all from the top ranks right through to the lesser able - at least our horse is fit to fight another day unlike Manduro who unfortunately for his connections will not (though I suppose in time the fact that he is now able to go on stallion duties might soften the blow and must be a better prospect than re-training him as a showjumper or giving him away for hacking practice which is the fate of many a defeated race horse!!!!!!!!!)  Graham is heading for the Ayr meeting - he should be wearing his G G Racing owners badge so if you see him stop him and say hello!   regards  deana g g racing

17th September 2007 We are all very excited in the G G Racing camp as we are off to Leicester with the 2-yr-old HOWDIGO.  There are a number of things we are looking for - the first one being that the commentator gets his name right!!  How di (as de not di) go!!!  Seriously we feel that this is a good race for him - a nice stiff 7 furlongs.  We are expecting him to train on next year and tackle the further distances - hence the Derby entry - but for now this seems the ideal distance for him other than an easy mile.  Dane O'Neill takes the ride and will be instructed to keep him up with the pace and not give him too much to do - not to panic if he gets a little stuck for speed when they quicken - he is a game sort and will catch them if not too far back to make the difference.  He seems to take after his half-brother and sister WILLHEGO and RISING CROSS showing a real determination in his races - if he shows us this again this afternoon will be be happy - even happier if he wins!!!!!!!!!  WILLHEGO is declared for a race at Sandown on wednesday and will run with Stephane Breux in the saddle.  It is a 1m,2f trip which should prove ideal and we are sure he will come on for his last run which was his first for 551 days.  PRINCE OF MEDINA was not able to make the trip to Musselborough - nothing serious but he just wasn't 100% - so we did not declare him and we will find him another race shortly.  SMOKIN JOE is ready to go and we are looking for a race for him - he will be out just as soon as we identify the race.  WOODYGO is walking and looking spectacular we are just awaiting the go-ahead to get him back into full work following an enforced rest after he picked up a knock in the field.  KALLISTA'S PRIDE is having antibiotics following diagnosis of an abcess.  JOY is growing well and is looking a picture.  SONNY is growing apace and has now overtaken the other foal in the yard although there is 5 weeks between them.  He has been weaned and took to the new regime with little fuss.  BROUGHTON ZEST is well and likewise took to the weaning process well, she will now be able to concentrate on eating for two rather than three - eating is something she seems to have a real talent for!  HOTCHPOTCH is settling in him new home and we wish him and his new owners well.  Graham is at Leicester today so if you see you why not go and say hello?  He will also be hosting at Sandown on Wednesday and going along to the Ayr meeting at the weekend.  He will be modelling our new G G Racing owners badge which has been issued to all syndciate members this month - watch out for it at the races.  Bye for Now  Deana  G G Racing

29th August 2007. We've been away for a couple of days enjoying the sunshine and watching some junior cricket but we are back now and looking forward to a couple of busy days. What a fantastic win for KINGSGATE NATIVE at the Nunthorpe at York, little did we realise when we saw him progressing on the gallops that he was destined for such a magnificient performance.  Congratulations to John and his owner, also John, from everyone at G G Racing.  Jimmy Quinn the rider of Native is pairing up with HOWDIGO our 2-yr-old tomorrow at Lingfield.  It is Howdi's first go on the all-weather and he is definately playing with the big boys now.  We are just looking for a good race from him and hope that he can continue to show the promise he has so far - we do not expect to see the best from him until next year when he can step up over the longer distances.  PRINCE OF MEDINA (SOX) is going to Salisbury on Friday where we think the course and trip will suit him although we would prefer the ground to have a bit more of a cut in it.  Stephane Breaux is taking the ride and he rides him at home so he should know what he is capable of and hopefully will put him into the race in such a way that he can fulfill his promise.  I know that all his owners will be watching with everything crossed for a good run.  WILLHEGO and HOWDIGO are both entered on Saturday at Sandown but for different reasons we do not expect them to run (Willie probably won't get in and it will be too soon for Howdi).  All the horses are reported to be well and we are hoping to see them all on the racecourse within the next month.  John Best has been to America to the sales where it is reported that he spent some £500,000 (or was that dollars) so we are interested to see the yearlings come home once they have gone through quantine.  If you are in the market for a yearling why not check out his website or give him a call to post your claim.   If you are going to lingfield tomorrow and spot the G G Racing gang then why not come over and say hello? Bye for Now. Deana  G G Racing

16th August 2007 Another day another controversy at Folkestone.  PRINCE OF MEDINA ran at Folkestone tonight and went off as favourite.  The ground had gone to good to soft which we thought would suit him better than the firm variety of a couple of days ago.  We met Tai O'Shea in the parade ring and Michelle gave him his instructions to keep up with the leaders and the pace and then come through at the end.  SOX had a good draw and he looked a picture.  He seemed slower away than usual and he was then steadied in last position - where he stayed for a lot of the race, after the last bend he was taken around all the horses and finally encouraged to chase the leaders but he was far too far back to do anything.  He quickened up well but had far too much to do.  Tai met Michelle and myself after the race (after the appalled phone call from John who had been at Sandown) and before we could say anything held up his hands and said he had got it wrong.  He said he had wasted his good draw and given SOX far too much to do.  He had no excuses and said he got the trip ok (although he would go further) and handled the ground.  What can you say when the jockey admits it was his fault?  The stewards were a little miffed and SOX was led away for a dope test.  When we got home we turned on the television and found that Jason Weaver was discussing our race and had received some incensed emails concerning the ride.  We waited to see him re-run the race and give his verdict - he came down in favour of the jockey and said he could see nothing and was not very complimentary about SOX's achievements!!!  We heartily disagree - and so did the jockey after the race - but we felt that joining in an email war would serve no purpose and we would leave it to SOX to show his worth another day.  After the disappointment of Yarmouth it was good to see SOX giving a good show even if he was not given the opportunity of doing his best, the way he run on to try to catch the leaders showed a lot of effort and we were pleased in the balance - although a win would have been better!!!! WILLHEGO ran at Sandown and following his 551 day lay off was given a great ride by Franny Norton.  WILLIE was placed in third place and fought for his head but he did settle (and by the way was an angel on the way to the start) and ran on well.  He ran out of steam in the final furlong and his jockey did not push him too hard but he was impressed with him and said he was a very genuine and nice horse and would come on well for the run.  A much  more successful outcome. We have some entries over the next few days for both horses but it is unlikely that they will take them up. We have posted a few new pics of SOX at the races and the latest pics of the foals on the photo pages.  Bye for Now, Deana, G G Racing

14th August 2007.   Very exciting at the moment - WILLHEGO and PRINCE OF MEDINA are running on Thursday at Sandown and Folkestone respectively.   It is Willie's first run for 551 days and we are keeping our fingers crossed that the excitement of being back on the race course doesn't overwhelm him.   It is important that the jockey keeps him calm.   A group of his owners are making the trip to cheer him home and ones things for sure he will give us his best even if he proves to be a bit rusty in the racing department.   PRINCE of MEDINA tries a shorter trip which John thinks may suit him - as long as the race is a genuine one and doesn't turn into a sprint.   It is raining here now so a bit of cut in the ground will help him on his way.HOWDIGO was entered but we decided to let the race go and look for one more suitable - we are looking for a nursery in the next few weeks.   SMOKIN JOE is back in full work and we will look for a race for him soon.   WOODYGO is out walking and will continue to be eased back into work. KALLISTA'S PRIDE, BROUGHTON ZEST, JOY and SONNY are   all very well.   JOY had to go to the vets with her mum, nothing serious, but whilst there she became the star of the show and extended her fan base somewhat!   She has lost most of her foal fluff now and is a nice burgundy colour - small but perfectly formed.   SONNY is settling well and seems to be more with it although he is very shy, it looks like he will remain chestnut when all his fur has gone and will retain his four white legs and blaze. So we are off to the races on Thursday - Graham to Sandown and me to Folkestone - if you are going to be there and would like us to bring along any information or would like to meet up with us for a chat please get in touch and we will sort out a meeting point.   Bye For Now Deana, G G Racing

10th August 2007. Sorry for my silence but I have had a disaster in the computer stakes and my desktop has crashed and won't restart.   I am frantically trying to rebuild my files from back-ups but it does mean I have to remember things I have done since the last full back up and my memory has never been my strong point.   If you have contacted me and are expecting a call or a pack and haven't received it please get in touch again.   thank you.   This is also the reason the new photos have not gone on - I have them safely on another computer but it is now a case of synchronising software etc in order to be able to load them.   enough of this technobabble this is supposed to be about racing. So what have we been up to.   Well SOX - PRINCE OF MEDINA - ran at Yarmouth and wasn't fond of the ground and if I am to be honest disappointed us all.   He is well and now back in full work and lives to run another day so all is not lost.   He is entered at Thirsk on Monday.   HOWDIGO has now been handicapped following a fine race at Redcar where he finished 3rd. He is rated 77 which is a very fine place to start!   We will now find him a couple of nurseries over 7 furlongs to further progress his education.   He is entered at Sandown on Wednesday and Thursday.     WILLHEGO is also ready to run and has an entry on thursday at sandown.   SMOKIN' JOE has recovered from his setback and is now on the way back, he should be ready to run in 2/3 weeks.   WOODYGO is out walking having knocked himself - no permanent damage but just a frustrating hiccup.   JOY and SONNY had their first visit from the farrier this week and both behaved very well for what must be a very strange new experience for them.   If you are interested in purchasing a share in either or both of them please be aware that the intial cost will be increased from September to reflect the higher ongoing fees associated with full training which is scheduled to start in august/september 2008 (obviously as the intial payment includes a full years maintenance fees these will have to now be re-assessed on a monthly basis to reflect the move   into training in the latter part of the year contract). HOWDIGO shares remain at the current price for the time being but we are taking advise as to his current value and will be making an   adjustment, if necessary, once this information is to hand. Bye for Now, Deana , G G Racing

27th July 2007.   WOODYGO will not run tomorrow night - disappointingly he has picked up a slight injury during training and needs a few days off to recover.   PRINCE OF MEDINA (SOX) is entered on Monday at Yarmouth and we have our fingers crossed he will get in.   A group of his owners are planning a trip to the Suffolk coast to cheer him on.   HOWDIGO has an entry at REDCAR later in the week and we hope that this run will result in a handicap after the run last week being discounted. The result at Folkestone was good and bad.   Good because it was nice to see him wanting to race   and bad because the stewards banned Stephane and disallowed the race for handicap purposes.   Next time hopefully things will go more to plan and we can then move on to plan his autumn campaign. SONNY has finally returned home and he is a picture.   very big and gangling.   He is taking well to the new life but does find everything a little scary and different.   BROUGHTON ZEST is proving a good mum and has settled in very well.   JOY is lovely and looks very dainty against her bigger campanions - the right little lady.   KALLISTA'S PRIDE is getting along very well.   Both mares are progressing well with their unborn - both are by KODIAC.   HOTCHPOTCH continues to look for a new owner - if you think you could give him a home and a job then please get in touch. Bye for Now. Deana. G G Racing

17th July 2007.   We have looked at WOODY's progression plan and have decided that the next step was to geld him.   The operation took place   a couple of weeks ago and he has recovered well, returning to the gallops in double quick time.   We will now look for a race for him in the next few weeks.   Whether the op will make a difference to his racing we will have to wait and see but for himself he will be able to go out in the field with the other geldings in time and that will give him a much better way of life when he is not running.   HOWDI is to run at Folkestone on Thursday this week.   We are hoping that he will continue with his progress and behave himself well.   PRINCE OF MEDINA is entered on the 30th July at Yarmouth.   We had a great time promoting G G Racing at the Kent County Show and met lots and lots of new people - as well as some old friends.   The winner of the Win A Share competition is Samantha Toms who wins a 1/400th share in Smokin' Joe with Barbara Ford who won a book on betting on horses and 3rd prize   went to Andrea Gill who will now be able to run her own versions of the Derby on her PC.   All the other entrants will receive notification of the result over the next few days along with some background information on the horses available through G G Racing.   We gave away over 150 items of memorbilia all promoting G G Racing and we are hoping that they haven't all found their ways into bins once their receipiants returned home!!!     Kallista's Pride and Joy are settling in well at the yard in Lenham.   Broughton Zest and Sonny arrived there yesterday - finally- and are settling in well.   Share sales in both foals are promising.   The initial cost covers the cost of the share and all expenses until 31st August 2008 when the foals will start their full training and thus attract a full years maintenance fee- currently £330 for 1/100th and £105 for 1/400th.   John has entered some of the horses from in yard in some exciting high class races in August, including some 2-yr-olds in group and sales races and Rising Cross in the Yorkshire Oaks.   As all of our racing horses are expected out in the next few weeks it is going to be a busy time for the yard and ourselves.   Bye for Now, Deana

14th June 2007   Woody reacted well to the blinkers but ran a little strong at the start.   Richard Thomas said he thought he was a nice horse and suggested we leave on the blinkers and drop him to 1m2f.   He has not really showed us what he is capable of yet but we are confident that we can unlock his talent and he will be winning soon.   Howdigo is going to Sandown tomorrow.   We are hoping that he will build on his first run and once again are hoping for an incident free run.     We will then look for his progression plan.   Prince of Medina needs one to drop out to get in on Sunday, it looks like a large contingent of his owners will be there to cheer him on if he does get into the race.   It's great to have the runners now and we are all looking forward to a busy summer at the races.   bye for now, deana, g g racing

12th June 2007 We are off to Beverley with WOODYGO tomorrow. We are hoping that the blinkers will assist in improving his form.   We have a pile of unused tickets which is a shame.   graham will be there though cheering our boy home. HOWDIGO has two entries on friday at Goodwood and Sandown but we do not expect him to run in either as it stands as he will have trouble getting in.   We are hoping for a more suitable race next week.   PRINCE OF MEDINA (sox) runs on Sunday at Folkestone over 1m7 in an apprentice race - we would like to see him break his duck but an apprentice race does have   a tendancy to be unpredictable.   WILLHEGO returns to full work next week.   SMOKIN JOE stepped up his work this morning and is progressing well and will be out in the next month or so.   HOTCHPOTCH is back walking and we are considering his future.   BROUGHTON ZEST, KALLISTA'S PRIDE, SONNY and JOY   are due back from Ireland in the next ten days or so and I can't wait to take some photos and meet the 'babies'.Further to the entry below we heard a tale this morning of how some unlucky punters in Ireland backed Ruff Diamond and on listening to the commentary tore up their tickets and then had to spend time sticking them back together again!!   We understand that all winnings were eventually collected!!   If you would like to hear John's thoughts on WOODY's chances then please call the telephone line after 1pm tomorrow (wednesday) . calls cost 75p per minute and the messages last around 2 minutes:   The number is 0906 757 0870   Bye for Now. DeanaG G Racing

4th June 2007 We were all pleased with HOWDIGO's first outing.     He showed some promise and there is much more to come.   For the record his name is pronounced as   if you are saying 'How did he go' but all one word and not How (di as in diana) go which is how they pronounced it   at Folkestone.     If you would like to hear a commentary where Howdi won his race followed home by Authorised (who won the Derby within half an hour so must be a very good horse) then go to www.attheraces.com and watch the archive video.   The commentator made a right hash of   it and gave the race to Howdi (instead of Ruff Diamond) and second to Authorised   (instead of Archived).   Hopefully none of Howdi's owners were listening on the phone commentarties otherwise they may have been very disappointed. We have launched syndicates in 'JOY' and   'SONNY'   today - our two foals.   please visit their pages for details.   Shares can be bought through the shop or by   paying by cheque to the address below.   A full information   pack with all details of the horses and the full terms and conditions is available on request - this also includes an application form for your details should you wish to purchase. We have posted some photos taken on Saturday and   they should be   in our photo album for   you to view.   Please respect those marked copywrite. We have no entries over the next 5 days.   Bye for Now, Deana, G G Racing

2nd   June 2007 Well here we are on Derby Day with a runner.     Not at Epsom but Folkestone but there is a connection.   HOWDIGO is running today and he holds an entry for next years Derby!   It is Howdi's first outing so it will be interesting to see how he copes with all the fuss of a racing day.   He is more feisty than his brother WOODY and reminds us of his half-brother WILLIE in many ways (hopefully in due time in the winning department as well.)   Rising Cross, Howdi's half sister, performed well in good company yesterday and we hope that given time he will follow in her footsteps - may be as far as Epsom.   It's a long journey but it is great to think we are on our way. This run is an interesting one for G G Racing in that it is our earliest outing for a 2-yr-old that we have owned.   Our young horses have all been bred for longer races and therefore have generally taken a little more time to make it to the track.   To have a youngster like HOWDI out so early in the summer is very exciting.   He will be supported by a number of his owners who have reserved tickets to see his debut - along with a number of our owners in our other horses who are making the trip to cheer him on and enjoy a day at the races 'playing owner'.   Even with the extended attendance we still have half price tickets unclaimed.   As far as chances are concerned we are just looking for a calm performance in the lead up to the race, a well behaved start (not too jumpy, no bolt from the stalls but no slouching either!) and a good race, settled and getting involved with the other horses.       In time he will run over longer distances than today and this will probably prove too short for him but he needs to step up through his races gradually if he is to reach his full potential.   He is to be ridden by the stable jockey, Stephane Breaux, who knows him and therefore this will be one piece of continuity for Howdi if he does find it all a bit daunting. If you want to hear a report on the race from the 'trainers   mouth' then John will be updating the G G racing Race Day Line at around 1pm today.   This line is a premium line costing 75p per minute.   John leaves a message whenever G G Racing have a runner so that our members (and friends) can hear what he thinks in his own words.   The number is 0906 757 0870 - don't forget don't phone until 1pm otherwise the message may not be updated and you will be charged.   fingers crossed for a safe run and that the sun continues to shine.   If you are coming to the races and you see us milling about then please come and say hello!   regards, deana, g g racing

27th May 2007 We were pleased with SOX's run on Friday.   He was a bit free at the start which may be cost him a place or two at the finish but overall it was a good performance.   He galloped all the way and didn't stop himself when he tired so these are all good signs for the coming months.   We felt he would need a run and was concerned this was going to be a little short for   him - both of which proved correct.   He has returned fit and well and in fact we visited him in the field yesterday where he was moving well and enjoying the spring grass (unusually he didn't come over for a chat - I think he was frightened we had come to take him inside and he was enjoying the sunshine).   He will have a couple of days off and then return to the gallops at the end of the week.   It was great to see Liberty Belle coming home a winner - I think most would have preferred it to be by more than a nose hair but a win is a win.   She will hopefully go on to Ascot and we wish her connections well.   Howdigo is to get his first run within the next month.   we have two races in mind at the moment one on the 2nd June at Folkestone and one on the 5th at Lingfield on the turf.   No final decision has been made though.   Enjoy the rest of your bank holiday. bye for now. deana. g g racing

25th May 2007.Exciting day for us all at G G Racing because SOX (prince of medina) makes his re-appearance on the race course.   This is an amateur race and he is being ridden by Ryan from the John Best Yard.   We are looking for a good run from horse and rider and just enjoying our first runner for quite some time.   Some of SOX's owners are able to make the trip and will be there to see him off and welcome him home.   However, as with many of our race trips not all the possible half price tickets have been used.   We have an allocation in double figures not used which reflects a saving of £11 a head.   This is why we offer all tickets to all syndicate members of all horses and this gives the opportunity of going racing and enjoying an owners experience even when your horse is not running (which helps to soothe the disappointment if your horse does run and you can't make it or if your horse is injured or resting).   SOX should be the first of many this summer.   HOWDIGO is going through final preparations and is expected to run early June; WILLHEGO is making steady progress and is expected in full training within the next two weeks; SMOKIN JOE will be ready for a run towards the end of June and is looking very fit and well; HOTCHPOTCH is continuing to relax and train with a view to a race in July;   WOODYGO is working well and we are looking for a race in the middle part of June.   It looks like being a busy summer - such a hard life, all   that sunshine, food, wine and race meetings - I'm not sure how we will all cope!!Owners have received details this week of the foal syndicates.   The owners of the broodmares automatically receive a like sized share in the foal but the remaining shares are available for purchase.   As with all syndicates owners are given first refusal (at a discounted price) and then the offer will be made to the general public through the website.   If you are interested in purchasing a share in either JOY - a filly by Tobougg ex Kallista's Pride - or SONNY - a colt by Desert Sun ex Broughton Zest - then visit their pages on this site on the 1st June for the full offer - or drop us an email and register your interest now and receive an advance copy of the details.   The purchase price will include all expenses until the 31st August 2008 and it is a great way to dip a toe in the water of race horse ownership.Don't forget I'm only an email or phone call away if you want more information on G G Racing.Bye for Now.Deana G G Racing

11th May 2007 The main   news this week is that TOMMY has been found a new home.   He is to stay with Sarah at her yard where he has been cared for for the past year plus.   He will continue to work as a companion   to horses that Sarah has in   her care - she   looks after the resting and recuperating horses from John Best Racing yard and other owners.   He   will be able to live out his days within a   ever changing yard which will give him some interest - he may even go on to become a hack companion in time, although Sarah will not push him.WILLHEGO has taken to his walking work very well and enjoys his morning treks - in fact if he is not the first out he makes his displeasure clear.   He spends the rest of the day in the fields.   SMOKIN' JOE is well and expected to pick up his work next week.   HOTCHPOTCH has returned to the gallops following a short rest and will be stepped up ready for his next run.   PRINCE OF MEDINA continues to impress and improve and we hope to see him out towards the end of the month.   WOODYGO has had a rest following his race but will return to full work very soon, we are looking for his next race carefully - the firm ground causing some concern.   HOWDIGO continues to impress at home.   BROUGHTON ZEST'S colt foal has been nicknamed SONNY (he is a son and also son of Desert Sun).   Both broodmares and their foals are reported as well.We have been working on a photofile for the website -why not visit the photo page every so often to see the new pictures being uploaded over the next few weeks.Bye for Now, Deana.

1st May 2007 Welcome to the G G Racing news page.   We will include here news and comments along with any details of updated pages on the site to help regular visitors to find their way around and not miss any new bits.If you would like to receive a copy of our newsletter sent direct to your email (around once a month) then please sign up on the welcome page by advising us of your email address. Many syndicate members made the journey to Windsor last night to see Woodygo.   He has not achieved the level of success for which we were hoping and last night we wanted him to show us he was getting the idea.   He ran very green and seems to be taking his time to get the idea of racing but in his defence he was hampered badly during the race being forced into the rail - in fact Stephane said he almost came off.   So it's back to the drawing board in a way but we are all confident that we will unlock his true abililty before too long.   Howdigo, his full brother, continues to progress well and we are expecting him to make a summer debut.   Prince of Medina is coming along nicely and he will probably be our next runner.   Smokin Joe will follow him out as will Hotchpotch who we are giving a little break.   Willhego is now out walking prior to taking up full training again. We have had some bad news on Tommy.   We have given him time to recover from his accident but it was not to be.   Whilst he has recovered enough to take up walking and hacking the vets advise us that his leg will not stand up to full training/racing.   We are therefore looking for a new home for him to enjoy his early retirement.   If anyone out there can offer him a home please get in touch and we will refer you to John Best, our trainer, who will be able to explain Tommy's prospects and restrictions.   Finally, we had some really great news in April with our two broodmares successfully giving birth to their offspring in Eire at The Tally-Ho Stud.   Kallista's Pride is now the proud mother of a filly, nicknamed Joy by her owners, and Broughton Zest a colt, still known as baby zest until his owners come up with a suitable stable name.   Details of the foals and how you can purchase a share in them and their future will appear on their own designated web pages in the next few days.   Shares are still available in Pride and Zest and will include any offspring from their next pregnancies following being covered by Kodiac - see their individual pages for details.Don't forget to visit this page regularly to see up to date information on the horses, our   plans and entries.Bye for now.Deana.
